Jose Vega Brings The Ruckus...Again!
This time Mr. Vega boldly disrupted the Policy and the Press panel at Columbia Journalism School on April 25th, during the “FaultLines: Democracy” conference. In the wake of Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News, Vega seized the moment to condemn mainstream media’s handling of significant global issues like the Nordstream pipeline, Syria, and Ukraine.
Vega accused top journalists, including Joe Kahn of The New York Times, Sally Buzbee of The Washington Post, Kevin Merida of The Los Angeles Times, Alessandra Galloni of Reuters, and Olatunde C. Johnson of Columbia Law School, of having no credibility with the public and failing to report the truth.
He demanded that the panelists acknowledge the importance of journalist Seymour Hirsch and the fact that the mainstream press is dying.
He urged the panelists to speak out about the imprisonment of journalists who have been critical of the war and to address the bombing that is bringing the world closer to the brink of World War III.
Vega’s impassioned interruption caused a stir, but the panelists resumed their discussion after he was pushed to the ground, then roughly escorted out of the room, by the Dean of Columbia and his security team.
My friends and I confronted the executive editors for @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @latimes, @Reuters on their censorship of Seymour Hersh, Uhuru, Julian Assange, Tucker Carlson, Russiagate..Then the Dean of Columbia and security pushed me to the ground and tried to silence me. pic.twitter.com/Tm1u48n5Xu

The incident highlights the power of the Oligarchy to silence the voices of activists and truth tellers. Free speech and open dialogue is essential in a successful democracy. The reality of Jose's harsh silencing becomes even worse when we realize that he was in a room full of "journalists".
